Ancient Fossils Coming to Life ... as Fashion Jewelry

Martine's featured fossils were alive hundreds of millions of years ago, some as trees, others as animals or other creatures.  Most pieces, shown below,  are petrified and were alive 400 million until about 65 million years ago ... in various forms.

The name "Ammonite" came from Greek historian, Pliny the Elder (79AD), who described their spiral shape as "ammonis cornua" ("horns of Ammon") because they somewhat resembled the tightly-coiled rams horns, which the Egyptian Priest/God Ammon (pronounced, AMUN) was typically depicted as wearing.

 

Besides these and other Cephalopods, Martine also features other fossils including: petrified wood, dinosaur bone, and coprolite, many from the Southwestern United States, Colorado Plateau or other parts of the world.
